 Daniel Branco is an Astrophotographer born in Salvador and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He started his artistic career in the most unpredictable way: as a Neuroscientist.

Daniel used to build color-coded brain maps of patients undergoing brain surgery. Daniel's maps helped neurosurgeons understand the areas of the brain that were related to language and memory, so they could be spared in surgery.

What he learned about brain mapping he applied to Astrophotography. There are as many neurons in the brain as stars in our galaxy. Daniel's portraits of the Milky Way help us see not only the vastness of our Universe but also the vastness in each one of us.
